(716) CAPP 105: Understanding the Arts
Course Description: (Open to grades 9, 10, 11, and 12)
CAPP 105: Understanding the Arts is a year long course providing students with an education that increases their understanding and appreciation of the visual arts. This course provides a survey of some of the most well-known works of art in the Western World from prehistory through the modern era. In addition, we will be exploring the cultural, religious, political, or personal circumstances that motivated the creation of objects we study, thus illustrating how artwork can tell us about the time, place, or person that made it. (Not applicable to art major or minor) *fulfills 3 credits of liberal arts elective college requirements for all non-art college majors and will count as electives outside of majors for art or design. University of Wisconsin credits can be transferred to other universities. This course is offered in partnership with UW-Oshkosh. Upon successful completion of the course, students may earn UW-Oshkosh credit(s). Students are responsible for the cost of tuition. This course may be taken free of charge, without the option to earn college credit.
