Today everyone participated in researching unusual objects that could potentially be made as a part of their tea set. Some examples were candle holders, incense burners, salt and pepper shakers, and sugar cube bowls. The rest of the time was used to work on the tea set.

Today our essential question was EQ: What makes a work of art engaging? We looked at the artist, Derek Fordjour, From Anguish to Transcendence and watched this Video and this Article followed by discussion. After that, we did the APAD QTF Sustained Investigation Progress Activity to brainstorm questions and ideas for each student's SI using the QTF Worksheet. Remaining time if for work on SI Project 4.
Today we started a new studio project, self portraits! We used time to take selfies and chose four of them to work as our thumbnail sketches. We chose our favorite selfie and created a 5x4 grid over the top in google slides, saving the picture with grid lines in google photos. We then drew a grid with the same dimensions in our sketchbooks.
Today we watched a few videos in hopes to give you some inspiration or ideas as you work on creating your tea set. I have added the link to the first video below because the artist does a great job explaining how they find their inspiration from nature. The rest of the time was used to work.

The remainder of class was work time on SI Project 4 due on Dec. 21st.
Stress can make creativity very difficult. We watched this video for tips on how to increase creativity. Progress grades will be posted at 3:45 p.m., so any missing assignments need to be submitted before 4th period.
Today we learned about the Early and High Renaissance. We explored the different aspects each has, such as the type of subject and stylistic elements that are visually represented in the artworks. The Renaissance was a very active time for artists so there was a plethora of magnificent artworks being produced that we spent some time taking a look at. The rest of class time was used to work on the art history timeline project.
Today we started with a quick energizer called "Two Truths and a Lie." We took turns trying to guess everyone's lie and learned some interesting information from doing so! The rest of the time in class was used to keep working on the tea set.
Today we watched a video in the "How Art Made the World" series titled "The Art of Persuasion." There are three reflection questions students have to answer regarding information from the video.
How did the power of art come to be used as a political tool? What brilliant idea did Alexander the Great have to distribute his image? Why do you think art is such a powerful tool in creating mass deception? The remainder of class was used to begin answering these questions. Today in class we watched a short video on handmade Mexican pottery. (link to video below). Everyone shared their tea set progress and received some feedback on their progression. The rest of the class time was used to keep working on the tea set.
